Lucas Center Hosts Book Club Discussion

The Lucas Center for Faculty Development, at Florida Gulf Coast University, has chosen the Academic Transformation book as a reading for the spring book club.  Here is a description from their website.  https://www2.fgcu.edu/LucasCenter/book-clubs.html
Clubs are scheduled for fall and spring terms, beginning in September. Faculty and staff members can sign up for one club and must commit to reading assigned pages and participating in every discussion. The Lucas Center provides a copy of the book for participants to keep.
Academic Transformation: A Design Approach for the New Majority
by Eric Malm, Marguerite Weber
Much of higher education was originally designed to meet the needs of full time 18-22 year-old students who enter directly from high school. However, the New Majority of our students are older, likely to swirl among institutions, and have significant adult responsibilities outside of the classroom. Academic Transformation: A Design Approach for the New Majority is a call to transform colleges and universities to meet the academic and student experience needs of New Majority students and for adult educators to become advocates, allies, and resources for needed reforms.
Thursdays from 2 – 3 PM
Jan. 25, Feb. 22, Apr. 19
